Smart pre-paid meters will be installed in Valsad district
At Vapi, Finance, Energy and Petrochemicals Minister Kanubhai Desai announced DGVCL's Rs. 324.97 crores worth of works started.
6,15,221 Smart Pre-Paid Meters will be installed across Valsad district through which customers can monitor, control, real-time tracking, pre-consumption analysis and forecasting of daily electricity consumption.
The national level scheme includes works related to improving electricity distribution infrastructure by replacing existing meters with pre-paid smart meters.
Under this scheme in the entire DGVCL Rs. 4120.67 crore works will be done.
On this occasion, the Minister said that the then Chief Minister and current Prime Minister Shri Narendrabhai Modi started the Jyotigram Yojana to provide 24 hours continuous electricity to the villages of Gujarat. Under this scheme, 6,15,221 smart pre-paid meters will be installed in the entire Valsad district through which customers can monitor, control, real-time tracking, analyze and forecast their daily electricity consumption. A total of 2560 km of exposed wires were replaced at a cost of Rs. Aerial bench cable will be laid at a cost of 63.63 crores. To solve the low voltage problem, 290 new transformers will be installed and the capacity of 116 existing transformers will be increased. Covered wires in place of 700 km exposed wires in paddy areas costing Rs. 57.72 crore will be installed at a cost of Rs. Divide long feeders into Rs. It will be shortened at a cost of 7.42 crores. Power supply is disrupted due to frequent cyclones in the coastal belt. In these areas Rs. 119.9 crores at a cost of crores and 280 km in urban areas at a cost of Rs. Underground power cable work will also be done at a cost of 59.25 crores.
